The Garden of the Cosmic Christ

A major task for theology as an earth science is to resist any process or tendency toward devaluation by stressing the connectedness, diversity and sacredness of all beings. Gift events between organisms and environment connect us personally, interpersonally, communally, individually and systemically - Anne Primavesi

The theme of the garden is the Cosmic Christ. By walking through the garden one is invited to experience Christ as the reality that connects every reality, the center around which the galaxy of all experiences rotate and are kept together. This is manifested through these main features: the cross with a center and circles like orbits that travel around it. The journeys are all connected in a complex network of paths and stations representing the mystery of each one’s spiritual wandering in relation to others. Biblical images of Jesus’ itinerancy and insights are dispersed throughout: the Gethsemane with the olive trees (Mc 14:32), grape vines (Jn 15:1) murals with biblical themes and stations of the Cosmic Christ. The garden, like the faith community of Christ Church, welcomes everyone. It recognizes in each one’s spiritual seeking a universal call to unity and fraternity manifested in the divine plan to “bring into one the whole in the Christ, both the things in the heavens and the things upon the earth.” (Eph 1:10)
